LA Cafe Ermita Manila
LA Cafe is probably the most famous bar in Manila, so it is definitely a place you have to check out. The bar is on Del Pilar street in Ermita, one block from Hyatt Hotel. It was officially opened in 1999, and now it is definitely the favourite stop for most tourists and expats as well as some of the locals in Ermita Manila. The mix of people in this truly place is amazing, you got people from all over the world and from all kinds of backgrounds.
What all these guys who frequent LA Cafe have in common is that they love Filipina girls, and in LA Cafe there is no shortage on that. Every day 24/7 there are lots of girls hanging around in LA Cafe looking for mainly foreign guys. During night time there are more than a 100 of them, and the bar gets really crowded. Several of the girls live in the same building, and spend a lot of their time hanging around here.
I’d recommend coming here sometime in between 9pm and 1am. The second floor is only open during night time, and stays open till around 4am. You usually have to pay about 100 peso for the ticket to get up here, but it’s well worth it. Here they have good live bands playing, they have several billiard tables if that’s your thing, and you will usually find big groups of really cute girls hanging up here.
The first floor of LA Cafe is open 24/7 and the first room you get into is usually always quite crowded, even early morning there are still quite a few people hanging around here. In the evening it may be very hard to get a seat here, or even move around as it’ll be packed with girls, but that’s a pretty fun experience. If you want to relax go to the other room at the first floor where the volume is lower and it’s usually not that crowded.
Spending a night or an evening in LA Cafe can be quite cheap or pretty expensive, depending on what you buy. Beers are not cheap here, at about 110 peso each, so what I’ve done lately when I’m there with a group of people is to just buy a barrel of beer. I believe the price for that is about 500 peso, and that is for 3-4 litres, so you definitely save a lot doing this.
If you want to be really popular among the girls, buy a bottle of tequila and give away some shots. The girls here love tequila, so you might find yourself with an empty bottle fairly quickly, but I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun. The price for a bottle is somewhere in the neighbourhood of 1500 peso.
