Bus trip from Manila to Santiago

Submitted by Iwind on July 21, 2009 – 10:15 pm3 Comments

I’m now in Santiago after a bus trip through the beautifull landscapes north on Luzon from Manila. I’ve been visiting San Jose, Bambang and now Santiago. It’s quite slow to travel here with the bus, and also quite warm, but it’s definately worth it to see the mountain landscape up here and all the rice fields.

At the moment I’m sitting at my hotel here in Santiago, hotel Amancio, a quite nice one actually. I decided it was time to update my blog again, it has been several months since last time after all. I’ve been back here in the Philippines for about one and a half months now, and had a very good time. The first month I spent teaching languages in Manila. I’ve not thought languages before, but I think it went quite well and I really enjoyed the job.

Now I’ve been travelling here in Luzon for about 4 days, just taking the bus a few hours every day and stopping in the cities here taking a look at the local sights. There are hardly any tourists up here at all, so I get a lot of attention walking around in the streets. All the people are really friendly though, so I’m having a very good time. They all think I’m American and I’ve gotten  used to the “Hey Joe!” now.mountainsphil

Last night I stayed in a city called Bambang in the hotel Town Inn. I told the people I’d mention the place on my website. It’s a brand new little hotel, they were still finishing up the construction when I was there. It’s very nice though, clean, with aircon and pretty cheap room rates. The people working there are very nice and helpfull too.

The hotel here in Santiago is quite expensive, but apart from that I have no complaints. I am here right now because I need internet connection which they have in their restaurant and the first four floors. In a few hours I’ll take the bus again and travel further north. I’ll post some more pictures here later on.

You mentioned your hotel is expensive, what is considered expensive for lodging there?
