Bar Amazonia Ermita Manila
Bar Amazonia is popular bar for expats and tourists in Ermita Manila. It is only one block away from the famous LA Cafe in Del Pilar street. They have a hotel in the 3rd floor called Hotel Amazonia, with fairly cheap rooms that have an ok standard.
This bar is similar to LA Cafe in that there are girls hanging here who are looking to meet foreign guys, but not even close to as many as there are in LA Cafe. You can think more like 10-15 compared to 100-200 that you’ll find at LA. The atmosphere is nicer though, and you don’t have the intense very loud music that you’ll often have in LA. They also have live bands in Amazonia, and some of them are really good. All of their waitresses are dancers too, and have dance shows as well as dancing on the tables now and then.
I often go here just to play some billiards, have a few beers and just relax. They do the standard system here with the winner keeps playing, so if you’re good at pool you can find yourself playing for a while. During special occasions they have theme parties, like halloween, christmas, octoberfest and so forth.
Amazonia is a little bit more expensive than LA, charging 125 peso for a beer during night time, and half that during happy our I believe. That’s why when I go there I usually either buy a barrel of beer, or a bucket with 6 beers for 450 peso, to get the price down a bit. They also serve pitchers of rum and coke as well as other mixes for 250 peso, so that’s another good cheap option.
