Baloy Beach Subic Philippines

Baloy Beach is one of my favourite places in the Philippines. It’s just by the beach like the name suggests and there are several real nice and cheap resorts and hotels to stay at. It’s a very popular place for European tourists, especially English and Swedish, and there are quite a few Australians coming there as well. Several of the hotels, bars and restaurants are owned by people from these countries.

Baloy Beach is about a 15 minutes drive from Subic and the city of Olongapo. It’s fairly quiet here, but still you got a lot of fun things to do like sailing, diving, driving a jetski, taking a boat to one of the beautiful islands outside, or just relaxing at one of the floating bars. It kinda reminded me of Sihanoukville in Cambodia. At the floating bars there are lots of girls to keep you company while you have your drinks and enjoy the sun. Several of the resorts also have real nice swimming pools and bars with good music during night time.

Rooms here go for between 1000 and 3000 peso a night, depending on your standard, but in general you get more for your money here than say in Manila. There are also several apartments and houses for rent, and this is way cheaper if you plan to stay for a while. Many people stay here for several months at a time.

When it comes to nightlife it is just a 15 minute walk to get to Barrio Baretto where there are lots of bars. You can also pay about 40 peso take a tricycle there. Most of the bars here are the gogo bar type, but you also have regular bars, pool halls and a disco. There is more about Barrio Baretto in another article.baloyfloating

If the bars in Barrio Baretto are not enough, you could check out a place called Calapandayan. It’s about a 15 minute tricycle ride away from Baretto, like 150 peso one way. Usually there are more locals visiting these bars, and you should probably be a little more careful in this area. Some of the bars here are really fun visit though, and they have some very interesting shows on stage, so you should definitely check the place out.

If you got any other places in the area to recommend or any other input, please leave a comment.
